Impact Statement
Software Product Manager (SPM) acts as a central role in SoftWare DownLoad (SWDL). The main responsibilities are creating Software Products (SP) and validate System Software Structure (SSS) for workshops and SWDL tests. The SPM works closely with SWDL test team and aftermarket application BAMs (especially Emira DS and gl-PIE BAM). SPM is also the link to other parts in the organization (CEVT, GRI, CNRC, Geely, GIC) when it comes to SW questions for aftermarket. Therefore, it is important for SPM to attend to PLM meetings for Teamcenter related issues and NCM and CRB meetings for SW release issues. SPM should also assist with deviations and quality issues that affect production vehicles and aftermarket, to help create solutions that work for aftersales and workshops.
SPM has responsibilities for Software Product (SP) production and maintenance. This includes creating SPs in Teamcenter and export to downstream systems. It also includes creation of SP phrases and correct limitations. All base data needed for a vehicle type should be added to gl-PIE by SPM, this includes Type code, SWDL code types, etc. The SSS is a delivery from R&D, but SPM act as the last validation opportunity before release to aftersales workshops and SWDL test. Each week SPM needs to validate new SSS releases to keep workshops running with the correct SW.
