Business Development Manager - Remote/Hybrid

The purpose of the role is to conduct business development activities to help win engineering consultancy projects for Lotus Engineering.


Sales Activities

Develop sales activities across defined competence/key account areas, to include – but not limited to:

•    Identify opportunities and potential customers
•    Arranging, preparing and supporting client visits 
•    Maintain accurate CRM records of client contacts and opportunities, in support of management information and reporting requirements
•    Supporting bid meetings with details and information relevant to the opportunity
•    Confidently work with the Capture Manager to “own” a proposal and delivery of that to the client base
•    Writing and preparing sales materials, proposals and presentations, building on material available from the Product Development Group
•    Liaison with Legal and Finance departments to assist in resolving commercial and contractual issues 


Representing Lotus Engineering at relevant shows, conferences, “supplier days”, exhibitions, trade fairs etc. as part of overall promotion of Lotus Engineering services.  Develop and maintain a network of client relationships across the Key Account client companies including engineering, product planning, purchasing departments – expanding activities with the existing client contact base and developing new potential clients contacts.  Develop and maintain/update a strategic sales plan based on customer cycle plans and known projects and influence these so that Lotus Engineering is seen as a strategic partner. 


Ensure client satisfaction – includes monitoring of strategically important programmes and remaining visible to the customer throughout the programme delivery cycle.  Marketing and Product development support.  Support the development of marketing activities and product strategies for all  competence areas and in particular for the allocated Key Accounts.  Provide feedback to the Engineering Directors on future technology needs / client strategy to enable the development of relevant future product & service offerings.


Essential Criteria:

  • Working for a Engineering Service Provider in a Commercial or Sales and Marketing role
  • Balanced individual with strong interpersonal abilities and networking skills; effective written and verbal communicator, results-driven and commercially orientated
  • Engineering Service Provider, Ideally Automotive based
  • Outgoing, driven, flexible, team ethos
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a commercial environment
  • Managing client expectations against Engineering resource & timescales

Desireable Criteria:

  • Engineering degree or relevant management qualification
  • Technical Specialism in whole Vehicle, LV or HV Electrical 
  • Self starter
  • Leadership skills
  • Language skills and international business experience
