Production Controller - Norwich, Norfolk

  • To plan resource to achieve planned production volumes and new model introductions.
  • To manage finished goods and WIP.
  • To plan and co-ordinate all manufacturing jobs required throughout the Fabrication or chassis build cells.
  • To understand and assist in solving issues with bulk materials, non-Fabrication/ Chassis scheduled parts and production issues.
  • To be pro-active in all CIP activities
  • To support Production Control department in all Production activities as required.


The role provides the opportunity to undertake a wide range of tasks and enables the successful candidate to work with many different areas of the business. There will be opportunities to make benefits to Lotus Cars business in its day to day activities, particularly within the fabrication and manufacturing areas and also have an influence in the way it could operate in the future.


Roles and responsibilities 


  • Form part of team responsible for a Lotus off-site production facility
  • Plan & Co-ordinate production requirements against S+OP plan
  • Management and control of Finished Goods & WIP
  • Monitor and work with production staff to ensure parts delivered to plan
  • Plan & Co-ordinate non-Fabricated purchased material in conjunction with Material Control department based at Hethel
  • Booking in, Inputting and Generating Reports from ERP system
  • Plan & Co-ordinate all finishing requirements to ensure finished parts are delivered to main production facility on time
  • Liaising with 3rd Party Suppliers, Material Control planners and other Lotus staff as task requires
  • Lead CIP activities to minimise waste and reduce cost
  • Ensure concerns are effectively recorded and resolved
  • Data Analysis
  • DCC / New Part Introduction
  • Systems Management and Maintenance
  • Shortage Monitoring, Reporting and Actioning
  • Logistics and Transport Planning (when required)
  • Contingency Planning
  • Stock Value Monitoring and Reporting
  • Main Site stock monitoring

Essential critea 


  • English language, maths & basic IT

Desirable Criteria

  • ONC or above in Engineering / Supply Chain related subjects. NVQ in Warehouse or Logistics
  • Experience of production planning in volume production manufacturing environment
  • Use of Warehousing Management, Planning & ERP systems
  • Experience in Planning/ Logistics/Manufacturing operations in automotive industry
  • Ability to communicate at all levels from senior management to production workers

  • Training will be held at the Lotus Lightweight Structures, Worcester over 4 days per week
  • Training is essential and travel will be required for a minimum of 4 weeks – all travel and subsistence with be paid for in advance
