About the Role:

 

 

The role involves setting, operating, and programming a Press brake, to manufacture components for assemblies, required for vehicle production, projects and special orders.

 

The role involves working within a clean workshop, with areas where people use CNC punch press, laser & forming equipment, so it can be quite noisy. The ideal candidate will be working to a strict time schedule. Tasks involve lifting & intricate or complex manipulation of materials & parts & there will be long periods of time spent standing at the workstation.

 

The role may also involve working unsociable hours. A level of physical activity may be required to carry out some tasks, for example, lifting, orientating and transporting parts with containers up to 20 KG on a regular basis & load tooling up to 20 KG.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

 

 

  • Producing components for assemblies on a Press brake
  • Selecting the correct tools, cleaning & setting-up
  • Reading Engineering Drawings
  • Inspecting parts First off/last off, prior to the next operation
  • Completing batch cards
  • Identifying maintenance concerns & first level resolution
  • Moving parts to the next operation
  • Working in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines, including keeping the work area and machine clean and tidy
  • Being responsible for keeping the P.P.E supplied in excellent condition   
  • Ensuring documented processes are followed
  • Meeting quality & production targets, as set by the area supervisor
  • Understanding & responding to the quality & process feedback system
  • Understanding the need to adhere to the Company's flexible working patterns
  • Respecting the safety of other team members
  • Being responsible for the quality of your own work, in the allocated time
  • Understanding that failure of the above will have financial consequences for the Company
  • Selecting the correct programme & tooling to avoid scrap & wastage

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

 

 

Essential:

 

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths
  • General Fabrication & sheet metal experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to read engineering drawings
  • Proven use of vernier callipers & protractors
  • The ability to work as part of a team or individually
  • Must be able to understand & communicate effectively in English, both written & verbal
  • Able to carry out physical tasks

 

 

 

 

 

Desirable:  

 

  • ONC in an Engineering Subject
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English & Programme CNC Press brake
  • Good Knowledge of Amada Press brake machinery
  • The ability to read complex engineering drawings
  • Automotive, Aircraft, Ship building or similar experience working within an engineering environment
  • Ability to drive a forklift truck
