Data Privacy Counsel
We are looking for a Data Privacy Counsel to join the Lotus Legal & Compliance team, reporting to the Director of Legal & Compliance. The role will be based in Central London but will also be an integral part of Lotus’ Global Legal Team.
Responsibilities:
- Working directly with the Senior Compliance Counsel to provide build awareness of the company’s data privacy governance framework.
- Day-to-day provision of assistance and advice, training, and awareness to all business areas in respect of data privacy legal requirements
- Responsible for privacy reviews for Lotus’ internal and external facing products and projects, and incorporating data privacy principles into those initiatives including but not limited to the connectivity features of the Lotus vehicles.
- Responsible for implementing the Regional Legal & Compliance strategy within the UK, Europe, and US regions and achieving the relevant KPIs.
- Develop, review, and implement the Regional data privacy compliance practice including, education and awareness, training, monitoring, and enforcement.
- Develop, review, and implement Group data privacy policies and procedures focusing on risk mitigation
- Research and horizon scan for regulatory change and keep the business advised accordingly
- Responsible for ensuring high compliance standards and risk mitigation mechanisms within the relevant regions.
- Support and partner with the relevant local teams on legal & compliance matters, legal updates, and business initiatives.
- Coordinate and formulate responses to internal and external regulatory enquiries, audits, complaints, and queries.
- Collaborate with other Lotus subsidiaries as well as external counsels across multiple jurisdictions in ensuring global compliance.
Education and Necessary Experience:
- Experience in global data privacy function with UK and EU experience
- Experience in structuring and providing data privacy compliance program
- Data Privacy contract drafting, reviewing, and negotiating experience
- Knowledge of and experience in monitoring privacy trends and developments and translating those into actionable requirements
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication/relationship-building skills with an ability to influence at all levels both internally and externally.
- Well organised and efficient with an ability to multitask.

Additional Information:
- Experience in an international environment is mandatory.
- Experience as an in-house lawyer within a corporate group is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
