Battery Management Systems Engineer - Permanent Role - Location: Wellesbourne, Warwickshire (Remote start)

We're growing our Energy Storage team to support exciting projects working on future Lotus products. As we move in to the next stage of our ambitious Vision80 Strategy, we're looking for experienced and passionate people to join us on our transformational growth path. With a track record in Engineering innovation and excellence, we're keeping our Lotus DNA about lightweighting and driver experience close whilst developing new products which will support our strategic goals. As Battery Management Systems Engineer you'll support the definition and execution of our long term BMS strategy, working collaboratively with Geely group contacts and internal software and hardware teams to ensure plans are delivered in line with this strategy.

 

Strategic contribution of this role will be: 

  • Supporting the definition of the long term Lotus BMS strategy.
  • Working with other areas within the Geely group to fully understand all the BMS solutions being utilised and available to Lotus.

 

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Completing documentation of all functional requirements working closely with vehicle, battery and service teams to establish a thorough requirements set, including Functional Safety, Service and diagnostic needs.
  • Documenting and maintaining the BMS FMEA and BMS Boundary Diagram.
  • Working with hardware and software teams, ensure plans are in place for delivery of software and supporting hardware.
  • Defining the validation plan for the Battery Management System, identifying timing and potential facilities
  • Completing the definition of test cases to support validation activity.
  • Ensuring all validation activity is fully documented and reported.
  • Definition of the end of line testing requirements for the BMS.

 

You will also report all issues and possibly lead investigation and issue resolution. 

 

Skills/ experience/ knowledge we're looking for;

  • A degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline. 
  • Experience in delivery of automotive BMS to launch/ production
  • Ability to communicate successfully across all levels of the business. 
  • Ability to work strongly in a team and inclusive environment.
  • Working experience with typical software coding tools and software validation tools.
  • Familiarity with Functional Safety methodology and requirements.
  • Experience with structured problem solving approaches and typical tools such as 8D and Ishikawa.
