The Operational Logistics department is responsible for receiving goods & paperwork for Lotus Cars, Engineering & Group. 


It is responsible for the storage of all ‘non-milk run’ production parts, hazardous goods & all project parts, as well as the movement of these parts & all other arrivals from canopy to point of use/storage.

Logistics provide a linefeed service & work order picking function.


The department provides internal parcel delivery, external despatch service for Hethel based departments.

Logistics supports all Powertrain & Vehicle projects through all phases of prototype build & launch into Production by providing a part approval, tracking & supply function. The approval function also supports running changes in Production.


Logistics are responsible for the provision & management of all material handling fleet & labour. 

The department is also responsible for providing inbound transport solutions to the Material Planning department for production parts & providing despatch quotes, advice and processing for the Hethel site.


  • Supervising and the development of Operational Logistics staff (incuding recruitment, appraisals and training)
  • Maintenence of part records to support accurate control of inventory
  • Co-ordination of DTRS and active management of absence
  • Responding to ad hoc requests made on the department
  • Resolution of problems/concerns relating to the area of responsibility
  • The provision of adequate workwear, PPE & other expenditure within the budget set for the department.  Raising of purchase requisitions, expediting through the sign off process & monitoring of receipts
  • Representing the department at relevant meetings relating to Production, Projects or other issues affecting the department, deputising for Manager where relevant
  • Identification of concerns impacting upon Operational Logistics & involvement in the provision of a solution
  • Health & Safety of the working environment to include filling out monthly hazard reports
  • Managing the allocation of resource to ensure adequate cover for projects, daily tasks & absence at all times
  • Maintenance, review & continuous improvement of both the procedures relevant to area of responsibility & the department generally
  • Generation of KPI’s relating to performance of section
  • Participation in Supply Chain working groups designed to improve communication & working practices
  • Ensure that all activities are in line with company policies and procedures
  • Development of documented processes to cover appropriate business critical operations
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of, and operate within, Health and Safety requirements.  Use Audits to demonstrate adherence to those requirements as appropriate.
  • Ensure Inventory system records are maintained to support accurate control of inventory
  • Ensure parts are delivered in an appropriate manner, fit for use to the right place at the right time
  • Ensure staff operate the Kanban system as required and that empty containers are sent to the appropriate suppliers via the designated routes
  • Co-ordinate as required any stock audit or stocktake as required by Operations Management
  • Provide reports and created presentations as required
  • Regular reviews with internal customers to ensure service meets with expectations
  • Introduction and monitor of all 5S, continual improves and cleaning schedules for the department
  • Safe operation of Fork Lift and Man up Narrow Aisle, Tow Tugs, Lift Stackers and powered pallet Trucks required within the role
  • Maintenance of IFS with respect to stock control, quantity and location accuracy
  • Clear all invoice queries in a prompt and timely manner
  • Monitor and keep all service records for the Mechanical Handling Equipment (HME)
  • Working within Safety Guild lines (including the movement of Dangerous Goods)
  • Ensuring parts under query (RED LIST) is monitored and kept to a minimum and all issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Manage parts logistics, applying JIT parts provision to manufacturing in line with Lotus production plan.
  • Manage distribution and logistics operations that support Lotus manufacturing with complex packaging and shipping customisation
  • Ensure business processes and information systems effectively support material flow
