Senior Project Engineer - Vehicle Concepts - Permanent Role - Hybrid Working, with a Base of Hethel or Wellesbourne


Lotus has a history of revolutionary products demonstrating the core attributes of lightweight and accessible dynamic performance – for the drivers.

This is achieved by efficient design throughout the vehicle, with the appropriate balance of technology. 

Correct conceptual design practice embraces and refines the critical attributes ensuring protection of the Lotus DNA. 


Lotus are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Vehicle Concepts team and help bring this DNA forward to the next generation of Lotus Cars.

In this role, the ideal candidate will be providing product support on the following areas:


  • Advanced BoM Reviews and Cost Collation
  • Technology Research and application
  • Technical Assumptions and Impact to Attributes
  • Vehicle Platform Commonality
  • Preparation of reporting documentation
  • Early Project Weight Estimations


The scope of this role is for developing platform and whole vehicle assumptions. We are a small team of talented and passionate engineers who live and breathe the core Lotus attributes of lightweighting and engineering innovation.

The ideal candidate will bring a critical awareness of future technologies, along with an open mind and an innovative approach.


This is a truly cross-functional role, where you will be required to interact with all product commodity teams in achieving the most visually striking and well-engineered product. Team based empathetic and effective communication will be required with at least the following functional areas:


  • Body, interior, chassis, electrical and powertrain groups
  • Studio Design
  • Product planning
  • Programme management
  • Concepts team
  • Materials and processes
  • Analysis
  • Vehicle development


Skills/ Experience Required:


  • Demonstrable knowledge of whole vehicle requirements and balancing
  • Critical awareness of cross functional issues
  • Innovative free thinker
  • Niche vehicle design
  • Understanding of Technology Roadmaps
  • Vehicle concepts and integration development experience
  • Ideally experience working with Battery electric vehicle architecture
  • Knowledge of joining technologies, and metallic/composite materials and processes
  • Application of legislation, type approval and crashworthiness requirements
  • Creative boundary pushing engineer
  • Passion for product and innovation
  • Ingenuity – question convention
  • Proactive
  • Futurist comfortable with design revolution
  • Catia experience useful but not essential
  • Teamcenter experience useful but not essential
