Role Description

The Principal Linux Infrastructure Engineer Role reports to the Head of IT. Primary responsibility of the Linux Server Administrator Role is to maintain the integrity of the Lotus IT Linux enterprise architecture with technical solutions by way of governance and change management, and to provide overall architectural ownership of the deployed solutions, and strategic technology guidance for future developments for Lotus. The role will also include providing third line support of the IT Linux Server estate and applications supported by the IT Infrastructure team.

 

Objectives

To develop, provide input to and deliver the Lotus strategy for all IT Linux Servers within Lotus as it embarks on a significant period of growth and utilisation of advanced technology solutions.  Providing expert level support for internal environment.

 

This role is a key member of the IT technical team for Lotus and point of contact within the Geely organisation.

 

This role enables involvement in presentations and meetings with Senior management positions.

Role scope

  • Manage, mentor and support team members.
  • Supervise recruitment, development, and retention of staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate team structure that supports the needs of the team.
  • Establish team goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Technical lead for significant IT projects, producing low level designs.
  • Technical implementation of IT solutions
  • Provide 3rd line support of the IT Infrastructure
  • Act as an advocate for the organisation’s IT vision via regular written and in-person communications.
  • Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment in IT Infrastructure systems.
  • Facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define system requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Ensure IT Infrastructure systems adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and pricing.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Wide experience in administering IT systems, providing 3rd line support, within medium/large environments.
  • Experience with dealing with outsourcing partners and multiple specialist support ogranisations
  • Linux Administrator and Administrator with Devops CD/CI Knowledge.
  • Jenkins knowledge
  • Puppet Scripting and Programming in Linux.
  • Must have (AWK/DASH/BASH/YAML/RHEL/PUPPET, C++, C, JAVA, RUBY, PHP Programming Knowledge)
  • Configuring and supporting services such as NGINX, Supervisors, RabbitMQ, Jenkins and JAVA Jar files.
  • Advanced automation knowledge CI/CD and concepts using Source control (GIT).
  • Advanced Linux Security knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • SSL and Proxy SSL knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Oracle wallets connection concepts.
  • Able to be given a problem and work out a solution following best practices at all times.

  • BSc Degree or Equivalent computer studies
  • Professional IT qualification
  • ITIL v3 foundation qualification

Infrequent UK travel.

Out of hours working to maintain system / upgrades.
