About the Role:

 

The Engineer - EBOM will be required to interact across all departments, to ensure the completion of the bill of materials in a timely, efficient, and detailed manner.

 

This role is critical to ensure the accurate build of vehicles and planning of material into & out of the vehicle plant. The scope exists for challenging the existing methods of working, both within this role / department and in the wider organisation, for example, engineering release to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the design change activities.

 

The role lends itself to a detail level of operational experience/technical knowledge of product context, product structure, variant configuring, attribute through change management processes, with proven experience of dealing with complex stakeholder requirements/relationships.

 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

 

  • BOM Release status report against each gateway.
  • Daily Engineering change status reports (PCR/ECR/ECN).
  • Cross balance quality validation, reporting between product context definition and BOM variants.
  • Communication log reporting with relevant stakeholders, to coordinate smooth workstreams.
  • Business Requirements Documentation, to improve system tools, processes & methods.
  • Lesson & Learn knowledge sharing documentation.
  • Regular interaction with the project teams and function group engineers.
  • Daily interaction with the BOM team members (SBOM; MBOM; CAD Integrity) for uploading, checking, integration, confirmation and reporting of designs in Teamcenter.
  • Challenges lie with stakeholder expectations and the acceptance of configuration/change data.
  • While no budgetary responsibility is required, this role is critical to ensure the accurate build of vehicles and planning of material.
  • The scope exists for challenging existing methods of working, both within the role/ department and wider organisation, for example, to improve the accuracy and efficiency of design change activities.
  • Releasing & delivering the BOM structure, configuring variants condition & attributes.
  • ECR (Engineering Change Request).
  • ECN (Engineering Change Notice) based on PCR (Part Change Request).
  • Engaging with Engineering, finance, purchasing, manufacturing, services to resolve issues.
  • Validation and improvement of BOM Quality, aligned with the vehicle content and program milestones.
  • Tracking and report out the status of BOM consistency, securing the quality.
  • Setting up of new options and/or create rules to support various build configurations.

 

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

 

Essential:

 

  • Recognised automotive, mechanical, or industrial engineering bachelor’s degree.
  • CAD Product Structure and Change Control experience.
  • Analytic experience of product feature context definition, with balance analysis check.
  • Working knowledge of Engineering BOM structuring, with variants configured.
  • Working knowledge of Engineering BOM structure change management, with traceability.
  • BOM & Change Management analytic skills.
  • Timeliness - Release/WBS Setup.
  • Completeness - Delivery tracking reporting.
  • Accuracy - Quality reporting.
  • Consistency - Change Management reporting.

 

 

 

Desirable:  

 

  • Master’s degree.
  • CAD Data Management experience.
  • MS Package experience.
  • PLM system operation and Teamcenter operation experience.
  • User operation experience of Teamcenter UA & TC Visualization tool.
  • Experience of TC integrated CATIA / NX tool.
  • Collaboration - Stakeholder Coordination.
  • Improvement - Business docs.
  • Alignment - Status & Development Sharing.
  • Lesson Learned Sharing.
