Manager Outbound Logistics - Hethel, Norfolk 


The position drives and oversees the procurement of all outbound logistics services and operations for Group Lotus, Worldwide.  This includes the global movement of vehicles, semi-finished product and After Sales.


As such this role is a major contributor to the achievement of Customer satisfaction and ensuring Group revenue targets are achieved


Role Objectives


Along with global operations and the support of procurement responsibilities, other key responsibilities include setting strategies; establishing core capabilities; executing those activities; monitoring and overseeing lead service providers and ocean carriers in support of deliveries, warehouses and freight forwarders; reducing transit and dwell times, port congestion; driving vehicle lead-time, quality and reliability to increase sufficiency; and identifying opportunities for alternative modes of transportation through strategic initiatives.


This role will manage a global vehicle distribution in addition to significant Aftersales and inter-plant volumes.


1.  Inventory: Lead day-to-day inventory and total vehicle pipeline levels. Develop strategies to reduce vehicle lead-time and increase delivery reliability

2.  Quality: Lead day-to-day vehicle quality activities to obtain a damage free delivery.

3.  Budget:  Drive key initiatives in support of the Logistics budget.

4.  Monitor and oversee regional lead service providers and ocean carriers in support of on-time deliveries

5. Reduce long distance transit and dwell times for trade lanes, both import and export.

6.  Drive for cost savings and performance improvements from suppliers

7.  Zero downtime due to transportation




The size, scale and complexity of Group Lotus Outbound operations will increase significantly in the coming years.

This role will manage a global vehicle distribution in addition to significant Aftersales and inter-plant volumes.

Planning and executing this change will require significant levels of innovation, negotiation and management of Global processes and partners. This position will drive the strategy for Outbound Logistics movements for the Lotus group. The position will determine the best priorities and processes for achieving organisation’s objectives.  New courses of action will need to be developed within broad functional policies to determine what will be done in a functional area or business unit.


Essential critea 


  • Requires a broad understanding of the global vehicle and material logistics market
  • Previous Automotive Logistics experience
  • Experience of developing and operating Global Logistics networks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Supply Chain, Engineering or Purchasing related field.
  • Needs to have strong leadership skills and have managed personnel.
  • Comfortable to analyse financial, service, economic and operational scenarios to develop optimum solutions.
  • Ability for strategic thinking in complex and pressurised environments.




  • APICS CLTD certification or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience of operating Automotive logistics processes from China and the Asia Pacific region.
