The objective is to raise actual and perceived quality of Lotus products and brand to a level amongst the leaders in the sports and luxury segments through radically changing Lotus’ approach to quality across every facet of the business. Using JD Power as lead partner to develop and integrate a customer aligned quality system.

 

This role defines and delivers the production quality strategy for new and current models produced at Hethel and the other UK support functions. This role is responsible for achieving and delivering the quality requirements of Lotus products produced at Hethel thus forming an important part of the Lotus Vision 80 mission statement. This role shapes, prepares and delivers the production quality aspects of new models helping to embed a quality culture throughout Manufacturing and the supporting areas

 

Role Objectives - 

 

  • To be the voice of Quality within manufacturing operations, offering quality leadership, help and guidance
  • To ensure all products manufactured meet the specified quality standards
  • To manage the quality processes throughout Manufacturing
  • To manage and resolve issues arising from customers and warranty claims with view to continuously improving product quality and reducing operating costs. 
  • To be responsible for all product audit and inspection activities, including “Buy off
  • To generate and issue quality metrics for production quality
  • To produce detailed, analysis and reports resulting from audit and inspection activities, making recommendations as necessary to improve the product(s)
  • To ensure all critical operations are carried out correctly and are confirmed as complete.
  • To develop and document vehicle build quality standards obtaining buy in from the various stake holders
  • To ensure all products are compliant with the specified Conformity of Production regulations
  • To work with cross functional team to drive issue resolution in a timely manner.

 

Roles and responsibilties -

 

 

  • To be responsible for all product audit and inspection activities, including “Buy off
  • To generate and issue quality metrics for production quality
  • To produce detailed, analysis and reports resulting from audit and inspection activities, making recommendations as necessary to improve the product(s)
  • To ensure all critical operations are carried out correctly and are confirmed as complete.
  • To develop and document vehicle build quality standards obtaining buy in from the various stake holders
  • To ensure all products are compliant with the specified Conformity of Production regulations
  • To work with cross functional team to drive issue resolution in a timely manner
  • To effectively manage the relationship with production management, supervision and staff in order to deliver quality products and a quality culture.
  • This will require a strong personal presence visible to all production and supporting areas of the business
  • Ability to drive improvement performance across a range of departments and personal
  • The strategic aspects of this role will influence how we produce quality cars in increasing volumes over the forthcoming years. New quality related systems and processes will need to be introduced and maintained to achieve the quality and cost targets. Diligent budgetary and headcount control is essential  in order to deliver the business plan

 

Skills and experience - 

 

  • Degree qualified preferably with a recognised management qualification.
  • Previous OEM quality and production management experience is essential, as is working with and leading teams
  • This a highly visible leading by example role focused on improving the quality culture across the business. Focus must be on quality whilst being part of a management team delivering the business plan
  • Occasional travel, primarily working normal hours however support will need to be given to those team members working shifts and at other Lotus UK sites
