About the role

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Files sales tax forms with state and local government agencies.
  • Prepares financial reports/analyses on a monthly basis for the required areas such as expense report by cost center.
  • Conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement, utilizing analytical tools and financial data to support decision-making processes.
  • Help create internal controls and procedures.
  • Knowledge in forecast and budget.
  • Prepares and present monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts along with correcting journal entries and submitted by various departments to ensure accuracy and correcting all detected errors or omissions.
  • Utilize analytical review techniques when reviewing journal entries, account activity, and account reconciliations, to ensure accurate reporting by identifying discrepancies or errors.
  • Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
  • Provides support on year count cycle (inventory).
  • Provides year-end audit support.
  • Accurately prepare and book monthly journal entries, including prepaids, accruals and investments
  • Provides back-up duties for AP, AR, and Tax and Accounting Manager as needed.
  • Provides support for accounts payable coding.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Provide solutions to accounting issues as they arise.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • SAP Experience Preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, sales and use tax filings, and cost accounting.
  • Inherently demonstrate a high level of integrity and be trustworthy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
  • IFRS 16/asc 64 knowledge Education and Experience. 
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

 

Desireable:

  • Public accounting experience

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or finance, required.
  • 2+ years of related experience required.
