Vehicle Dynamics Lead Engineer (m/f/d)

The Attribute Integration team leads vehicle level attribute development, the compliance and validation process as well as managing the company test facilities (workshop and PG) and fleet. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead all aspects of vehicle dynamic attribute development for a specific project (architecture or top-hat application)

  • Execute the wide-scoped vehicle dynamics integration work according to Product Development System from concept definition over development and validation phase up to vehicle launch  

  • Collaborate closely with the Global Vehicle Dynamic and the Attribute Integration teams  

  • Develop requirements for complete vehicle dynamics (subjective, full vehicle KPIs and K&C) and cascade them to system and component level, in collaboration with system owners and CAE team 

  • Lead virtual and physical testing, tuning and validation activities with prototype vehicle at various stage of the projects. Prepare and support senior management vehicle sign-off drives  

  • Integrate chassis control and system calibration development to tune the vehicle handing according to the desired characteristics

  • Conduct risk assessment for all vehicle testing activities, on proving ground, racetracks and public road  

  • Run root cause analysis and develop robust solutions when targets are not met 

  • Report development status to leadership 

  • Improve vehicle dynamics development process, verification methods and standards, including growing need for objective testing 

  • Execute benchmark analysis 

  • Screen new technologies and contribute to the definition of innovation strategy roadmap for complete vehicles

 

Requirements:

  • Automotive Engineering degree or equivalent experience gained on the field 

  • 5+ years of working experience in vehicle dynamic attribute and chassis system development, preferably for BEV and premium/luxury segments

  • Experience in target setting for handling, steering and ride comfort attribute and supporting the cascading to system level requirement with the support of the chassis CAE team

  • Good understanding of overall vehicle integration and mainstream technologies from chassis and electrified powertrain.  

  • Excellent driving skills, backed-up by proving ground and racetracks testing record  

  • Good project management skills, ability to lead the resolution of business, technical and process issues as they arise 

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to report at senior management level

  • Fluent in English  

  • Willingness to work in an international environment and travel to support testing in various locations (Germany, Spain, Sweden, Italy, China, …)
