Senior Expert - Head-Up Displays (HUD)(m/f/d)

Responsibilities
- Build and lead Lotus’ Centre Of Competence for Head-Up Displays (HUD) with focus on advanced development activities and innovative/non-conventional technologies.
- Form strategic partnerships with key suppliers and/or partners to enable Lotus to bring new innovative solutions to market and be competitive.
- Execute and complete Proof of Concept (PoC) activities, evaluate concepts and new technologies to drive the selection of the best technical solutions and partners for Lotus.
- Closely monitor the head-up display market to identify new technologies, developments, and trends.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and technology partners along the complete head-up display supply chain.
- Define the Lotus head-up display technology roadmap.
- Lead integration studies for head-up displays and support packaging activities with design, architecture, and vehicle program teams.
- Work closely with other stakeholders (e.g. windscreen) to ensure a premium execution and excellent optical performance.
- Perform/oversee optical studies and investigations.
- Define measurement criteria and methods to assess head-up display performance and optical quality.
- Establish test and measurement facility for the optical evaluation of head-up display concepts.
- Define and drive head-up display specifications.
Requirements
- Degree in optics, photonics, optical engineering, nanotechnology, physics, mechanical engineering or a related course of studies.
- Min. 5 years of working experience in the development of head-up display solutions, preferably at an automotive OEM or Tier 1.
- Experienced working with and managing external supplier(s)/partners.
- Expertise within one or multiple of the following areas: HUD system design, PGUs, optical design, optical simulation, holographic HUD technologies/holography, waveguide technologies, HUD windscreen integration & requirements, HUD optical measurements and test methods, optical metrology, nano materials, mechanical design
- Experience in vehicle integration of head-up displays, ideally with a basic level of CAD skills (e.g. CATIA).
- Previous exposure to optical design and integration analysis (using Zemax) is considered beneficial
- Having completed at least one complete development lifecycle from concept to series production.
- High integrity and trust in all activities and communication.

- Pro-active and self-organised.
- Excellent communicator with an open and structured mindset.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to visit suppliers/partners and other Lotus facilities globally.
- Fluent in English.
